The Plastic Empire of Kolwade— Illegal Operations by Ramakant and Sadam Flourish on MIDC Land! Pollution Board Asleep, Government Deaf, Citizens Trapped in Toxic Air!
Pratik mayekar – palghar
Boisar | In Palghar taluka’s Kolwade village, the very breath of nature is suffocating today. Though the land belongs to the MIDC, the administration seems to have completely lost control over it. On this very site, two individuals — Ramakant and Sadam — are openly running an illegal plastic washing and storage business, and the entire village is paying the price.
This illegal operation continues in broad daylight on MIDC land — not just an act of negligence, but seemingly under an unspoken official blessing. MIDC officials remain silent, the local Gram Panchayat looks the other way, and the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) appears to be in a permanent state of slumber. The very body meant to protect the environment has now become a silent accomplice in its destruction. Claiming ignorance of the situation is nothing short of deceiving the public — for one whiff of the air in Kolwade is enough to reveal the truth.
Ramakant and Sadam have turned Kolwade into a plastic hell. Every year, the state government chants slogans of a “Plastic-Free Maharashtra,” yet in places like Kolwade, mountains of plastic rise higher every day. This is not just a failure of administration — it is a testament to the government’s insensitivity. The Pollution Control Board spends lakhs every month preparing reports, but no action ever follows. The villagers now question whether the MPCB works to protect citizens’ health or to safeguard corrupt officials.
Kolwade today stands not merely as a village but as a symbol of administrative paralysis. If no immediate action is taken against Ramakant and Sadam, the effects of this pollution will soon spread beyond Kolwade — contaminating the groundwater, air, and ecosystem across Palghar district.
It is high time that the administration and the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board wake up and take decisive action. If this illegal operation on MIDC land continues unchecked, Kolwade will soon be known as the “Chemical Village” of Maharashtra.
If citizens don’t raise their voices today, future generations will be forced to drink poison instead of water. Born out of the government’s silence and the administration’s negligence, this Plastic Empire could soon become a dark shadow over Maharashtra’s future.
